The KTM 350 is a fantastic bike, I had one and loved it. But do you really think a high powered high maintenance enduro racer is the best choice for a dirt noob? The WR250R weighs nearly 30lbs less than the KTM 690 and is a lot easier to handle. It's also very low maintenance, just gas and go, and change the oil every 5000 miles or so.
For 2019, as you’d expect, the changes are a little less ground-breaking but still show progression. I owned a WR250R for about a year, before drinking the orange koolade around 2013. I realize its a turd compared to the 690, but its a stone reliable turd and is tough as a cockroach. That said, I've logged over 60,000 completely trouble free miles between my 1190R and a couple KTM dirt bikes and have had zero issues.
